Enviro Conscious subscriptions that will ensure you never worry about home essentials again!

I usually HATE subscriptions because once set up we forget about them and they are impossible to cancel if we get more products than we need! I preface that because I personally use these 5 subscriptions. I find them easy to manage and straightforward when it comes to delaying a refill or canceling.

1. Loop Stores. Ok…I love this concept! It’s like the modern day version of the milk man. You order through their website and they mail you everything in a reusable/collapsible tote, which you store until you are ready to send back. All of their products come in reusable containers which you mail back to them (in the tote) once empty. For the minimal waste that is produced (for ex. a zip tie to lock the tote during shipping) they ask that you simply put it in the tote and mail it back for proper recycling. They sell a plethora of goods from cleaning products to snacks, coffee, bathroom products, and even ice cream! While you do have to put a deposit down for the containers, that money is refunded to you once returned.

Cons

  1. Loop is ONLY available in select zip codes of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Washington D.C. (I’m hopeful they will continue to expand)

  2. They call it “zero waste” but you will still receive plastics. Its more like a “zero trash” program

  3. While they have a lot of products, they are still building their platform. I doubt Loop will fulfill 100% of your needs and there isn’t a lot of variety

Pros

  1. Prices are equivalent to your grocery store brands

  2. They have partnered with well known brands like Tide, Clorox, Pantene, Gillette, etc…

  3. They have an automatic refill option so you never have to worry about restocking products

  4. While your product might be packaged using single use material, Loop guarantees all packaging is properly cleaned and reused. If it can’t be reused, they guarantee it will be recycled properly

***Product Categories Covered: Dishwasher & laundry detergent, toothbrushes, disinfecting wipes, all purpose cleaner, shampoo & conditioner, razors, hand soap, lotion, spreads & spices, rice & grains, cooking oils, coffee, variety of snacks, ice cream, etc… They even have animal crackers!

***Loop comes up short on things like dish soap, toilet paper, deodorant, toothpaste, mouth wash, chap stick, sponges, etc…

2. by Humankind. Hats off to this brand! Single-use plastic packaging from our everyday household products accounts for more then 50% of our worlds plastic waste and 1/3 of all landfill waste is tied to personal care products. by Humankind has taken the bull by the horns and designed a personal care product line that virtually eliminates single-use plastics. Even their packaging is recyclable AND compostable. In addition, their products take up a faction of the space and last just as long. As shown in the picture, I ordered deodorant, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash and it all fits onto a folded towel (including its packaging)!!!

Cons

  1. Don’t offer 100% of personal care needs so you can’t check the personal care box with one order

  2. Limited variety within their product line

  3. Unclear how well it works for people with sensitive hair and/or skin

Pros

  1. Has a subscription model that is extremely easy to monitor, adjust, and cancel

  2. Free shipping and carbon neutral shipping

  3. High quality natural products with virtually no plastic

    3. Who Gives A Crap. Never worry about TP again! Seriously…amidst all of this COVID-19 news and hysteria, TP has been the least of my worries thanks to this brand. I love this brand…obviously because of the name AND because the are a badass eco-friendly brand (pun intended). Their products are made from 100% recycled material OR bamboo AND 50% of all profits are donated to help build toilets for those who actually don’t have one (doubt most people have ever thought about that privilege). They sell toilet paper, tissues, and paper towel and ALL of their packaging is paper or cardboard. 48 rolls will run you $48(bamboo) – $52(recycled paper). For perspective, if you were to buy 48 of Charmin’s Ultra Strong Mega Rolls you would spend roughly $53 (through Walmart). Why would you worry about buying toilet paper ever again???

Similar Brands

  1. Reel Paper Co. 24 rolls will cost you $29.99

  2. A Good Company. 48 rolls will cost you $60.00

  3. Bim Bam Boo.

***Note… I have never ordered from these brands.

Pros

  1. Eco-friendly alternative that is just as high quality

  2. You won’t be able to tell the difference between these materials and the normal brands you’re used to

  3. Subscription model ensure you never worry about TP again

***Due to COVID-19 they are currently sold out EXCEPT for current customers. Great reason why subscriptions like this make sense, companies will always prioritize their subscription customers first.

4. Bite Toothpaste. Lindsay McCormick (CEO & Founder) is badass! 1 billion toothpaste tubes end up in landfills every year (equivalent of 50 Empire State Buildings!). Lindsay’s company is putting an end to that gut-wrenching statistic. Your first order comes in a glass jar and all refills after that come in cardboard packages. Bite is a tablet that turns into toothpaste when you chew it. While tablet toothpaste takes some getting used to there is no reason why you shouldn’t give this a shot for at least 1 month. I promise you won’t look back and her subscription model will ensure you never think about stocking toothpaste ever again.

Cons

  1. Chewing a tablet takes a little getting used to

  2. Thats about it…only one potential con I can think of

Pros

  1. No plastic tubes…EVER!

  2. Subscription model ensures you’re always stocked

  3. Supporting a small business that is committed to improving our impact on the planet

5. Imperfect Produce. Did you know that millions of pounds of produce cannot be sold to grocery stores due to imperfections? Just because it is imperfect looking doesn’t mean it tastes bad. It could be that a veggie is too large or not perfectly shaped. This company helps ensure that this produce doesn’t go to waste! I guarantee you that your imperfect pepper will still taste like a pepper AND will be less expensive! They have a methodical approach to their packaging and recycling to help minimize waste. This subscription is VERY easy to manage, customize, freeze, or cancel.

Cons

  1. Imperfect foods does not deliver to the entire country. Check their delivery map to confirm they can deliver to you

Pros

  1. Great produce that is fairly priced and virtually eliminates single use plastics

  2. Supporting a company that supports local farmers

  3. Ensuring your veggie & fruit staples are always in your kitchen

In Conclusion

Through these 5 companies you will never again have to worry about toilet paper, paper towel, tissues, cleaning products, dish & laundry detergent, personal care products, toothpaste, mouthwash, snacks, spices, coffee, spreads, produce, etc… The list goes on and on! If you incorporate these companies into your day-to-day life I guarantee you will be satisfied by the results AND your positive impact on the environment will be unmeasurable!!!

I have three challenges for you:

  1. Start by signing up or simply order from at least one of these companies and start making a difference right now!

  2. Share this blog post with 1 friend who you know would appreciate it!

  3. Are there other eco-subscriptions you like??? Please please share them by commenting.

Stay tuned as I continue to add new brands and subscriptions that I support! Until next time…
